The Mysterious Notebook Of Murder~Chapter I

Mello raced toward the building, kicked the door down and rushed to the nearest bathroom. In there, he threw up. "Oh, shit...it's the morning."

Matt followed him, a little worried. "Mello? You okay?" he asked, fear edging his voice.

"I..I'm fine, it's probably just the chocolate."

"Are you sure?" Matt asked, sitting beside him. "I mean, something might be wrong with you."

Mello ran his fingers through his own hair. "It can't be anything...."

"Alright...are you okay now?" Matt asked, still worried. Liz had tailed him and she padded in, followed by Oliver, who, strangely went right over to Mello and nudged him, then rolled onto his back and looked up at him, pawing at his arms and face.

"Can I just be alone?" Mello sighed out.

"Uh...sure." Matt got up. Liz grinned, knowing what Oliver's "little dance" meant, but she called him up anyway and trotted out after Matt. The only one who stayed was Shasta, licking Mello's cheek.

"Leave, Shasta..." Mello closed the stall door before taking out the pregnancy test.

Shasta whined as she was shut out, scratching at the door. She was a puppy who knew nothing about personal space, and she wanted in. Not to mention the wolf side was coming out and she was determined to find whatever space possible to slide in.

The test came out a positive. "....Oh fuck no..."

The dog barked and whined, and then finally slipped under the small space separating the bottom of the stall door to the ground. Shasta looked up at Mello and barked repeatedly.

Mello opened the door back up and shoved the dog out.

Shasta whined and went right back under the door.

Meanwhile, Matt was trying to figure out where she had gone. "Shastaaa! Shasta! Where are you girl?" he called. "Damn, who knows where she could be by now?"

"You're saying it wrong," Liz told him, swatting him back. Then she yelled "Shasta! Kommen nun!" Perking her ears, the dog skidded out of the stall and at her heels. "Good girl," she grinned, petting her head.

"How...did...you..."

Mello rose out of the stall about five minutes later, dueto the fact he had to tell Matt he was pregnant somehow.

"I find most dogs respond to German very quickly. I don't know why, and I'm not sure the dog really knows either."

"Okay then..." Matt sighed, still a little worried about Mello. He picked Shasta up and began to pet her, remembering that petting a dog can relieve your stress levels.

"Can I talk to you? Alone, preferably." He whispered to Matt.

Matt looked at Mello. "Sure." he said. "What's it about?" he asked.

"Look, I dunno how the hell it happened, but somehow..." Mello huffed. "I'm pregnant." Mello's voice was very small and almost silent.

Matt was silent for about 30 seconds, all the color draining from his face. "W-what but how...how's that possible?" Matt asked, half asking Mello, half asking nobody.

"How the hell should I know? I'm not a girl..."

"Oh God Mello..." Matt murmured, sinking to his knees. "What are we gonna do?"

"I don't know at all, Matty."

"Mello," Matt said, getting up and putting a hand on Mello's shoulder. "I want you to know...whatever happens, I'll always be there okay?" he said gently.

Mello decided to gently hug his mate.
