The Mysterious Notebook Of Murder~Chapter I

"Autumn, don't go to sleep on that bench, someone'll have to carry you. There's another hotel not far from here, but its better than the one we slept in last night." Liz threw a shoe at Autumn's head and gave Matt his gloves back, and he yanked them over his hands, huffing.

"If you'd hurry up with the damn girl drama I wouldn't be half dead and half bruised." She sat up, rubbing her forehead. Mello took off, nobody seeing him hopefully. He wanted time to think over about what to do with Matt. The one he loved.

"Hey Mello, are you gonna come with us? 'Cause if you just leave I won't be able to tell you where we're staying," Liz called after him. Matt stood behind him, watching Mello go, knowing it would be better not to follow.

"I'm fine, Matt has my cell number anyway."

"Oh, okay then. C'mon Matt, Autumn, Jay. Let's get moving." Liz called Oliver to her side again and set off in the direction of the motel.

Mello lingered in the pitch black forest, Autumn behind him. "There's something on your mind. I can tell." "Nothing, it's private anyway." "Are you sure?" "I'm fine, just go with the others."

Liz watched Autumn go, but Matt trailed behind Liz, thoughts of Mello weighing heavy on his mind.

Autumn caught up with Liz. "He won't talk."

"Then don't make him. Somethings need to be kept silent," Liz told Autumn quietly.

"It's fun tormenting him though....."

"Just leave him alone. My instincts are telling me something'll happen soon." They soon arrived at the hotel, and Liz checked them in, running up to the rooms.

Autumn lagged after Liz, into one empty room, and flopped onto the bed.

Liz picked out her own room, and Matt found his own, curling up on the bed, placing Shasta down on a pile of sheets.

Mello dragged out his phone. "I'm ready." He texted Matt.

Matt heard his phone go off at a new text message, and he picked it up and opened it. Seeing Mello's text, he replied "Alright. We're at (insertaddressherebecausetheauthoristoolazytopullonefromherass)." he included the room numbers Liz had got and sent it to Mello and then put his phone down on the table.

Mello read the long message and arrived at the hotel 10 minutes later. "Damn, it's freezing in here..."

Matt was waiting for him; he had been as soon as he had sent the message. "There's an adjustable AC in the room, you'll be able to turn the air down."

"How the hell did you know I was here?"

"Footsteps aren't exactly silent you know." Matt grinned, an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips. It didn't remain that way, however, as Matt pressed the lighter to the tip, then taking an inhale of smoke.

"I'm only wearing my boots, and they're pretty silent if you ask me."

"Well, I could hear you." Unknown to most others, Matt's sense of hearing was pretty good, next to his eyesight. His sense of smell, however, was a different story. Obviously so, if he could smoke so many cigarettes and not really even be able to smell it.

Mello was hacking. "Jesus, I hate pills."

"Why do you say that? Are you taking any?" Matt asked curiously, kicking at the floor with the toe of his shoe.

"I took some of Autumn's. Apparently they aren't frickin' Advil."

"Well, that probably wasn't a good idea..." Matt muttered, watching as a cloud of smoke left his lips.
