Death Note- Another Note Chapter 2

Matt remained curled up on the ground, eyes closed, twitching and crying out every once and a while.

"I wish this would have happened to me rather than you." Mello whispered, now sitting at the door's entrance.

Matt could hear Mello's voice in his dream, and he shivered, wishing he could answer.

His warm hands brushed against Matt's forehead, trying to warm his body a little more.

Matt shivered, opening one eye to look at Mello.

"Liz is getting the medicine." He whispered gently to Matt, stroking his forehead again.

Matt lie his head back down on the tile. "Shasta," he murmured. "Get Shasta."

Mello whistled, calling for Shasta. He didn't want to leave Matt's side now that he could speak.

Shasta trotted in, tail wagging, as she lay down beside Matt. He drew her close, nuzzling into the neck of her fur. "Good girl," he murmured.

Well then. Mello thought to himself, showing no expression.

Matt looked up at Mello. "Mel," he said softly.

"Yes, Matt?" He replied, looking down at him with his emerald-green eyes.

"If anything happens to me," he said softly. "I don't want you to blame it on Liz or anyone else. It was my fault this happened."

"It wasn't your fault. Nothing was your fault."

"Yes," he murmured. "Whatever I have can only be transferred by being bitten by something with it or eating something dead that had it," he coughed, and then stopped for air.

"You don't eat things that are dead..."

"Not raw things but..." he coughed. "Perhaps it was something that was already processed..."

"You've barely eaten in the past few days."

"I mean before I stopped eating," Matt said, lying his head on the floor. "so hot..."

"Do you want water?"

"No," Matt gagged. "No water right now..." he began to hallucinate again, the scenery around him changing to that of a scientist's lab.

Bai rushed after Mitheel, trying to get him.

Mello just watched in sadness, his eyes in sorrow.

Mitheel heard footsteps behind him, and he turned. "Bai?"

Matt whined and writhed, but the hallucination made it seem as though there were ropes bounding him to a metal cot. He cried out in fear.

"Listen, you don't need to worry about me. Please, don't. If I ever cry again, and you touch me, I'll stab you till you bleed outta your ass."

Mello did nothing, leaving him there. He felt that if he didn't worsen it, the hallucanations would go away.

Mitheel sighed. "Okay then." Lightning jumped into his arms, and he petted the cat. "Guess I'll be going."

Matt started breathing heavier and thrashing more wildly.
